35 Golden Rules Every Man Must Learn

Men drift through life aimlessly – with no purpose, ambition or desire.
It’s a sad state to see.

If you want to be a man of value and respect, you’re reading the right article.

I will share 35 lessons/truths you must know that cover wealth, health, mindset and life.

1. Understand Health/Fitness

You only have one body.
Taking care of it is your priority to avoid many illnesses and injuries.

You must know:

-Basic weightlifting routines
-Healthy vs unhealthy foods
-Concept of calories and macros
-Injury and illness prevention
-Cardio exercises

Understand these fundamentals and get a baseline on your health.

All the money in the world won’t matter if you are sick..

2. You Can Only Save Yourself

No one cares as much as you do.

You may think your friends, parents, relatives or co-workers do.

But they have their own problems to worry about.

If you ever want to be someone of substance – you need to make the decision to be successful yourself.

Waiting for some external source to give you a helping hand is a fatal mistake.

3. Knowledge Alone Isn’t Powerful

Imagine knowing the exact blueprint on making millions — but you don't take action.

What's the point?

I encourage everyone to read books.

But then to extract the best pieces of information and use them to your advantage.

You can be the best-read person in the world.

Without taking action — it doesn't mean anything.

Knowledge is powerful.

Application of the same knowledge even more so.

4. “Early Bird Gets The Worm”

This saying applies not only to waking up in the morning.

But to life.

The earlier you start the fewer responsibilities you have.

As you grow older you will have a family and house to take care of.

So right now you should take advantage of your youth and energy.

You have the #1 factor of success on your side.

Compound Interest.

Starting at age 20 is much different to starting at age 45.

5. Spending To Impress Is Pointless

Human psychology wants us to feel respected and desired.

This is why we spend money we don't have (debt) to impress people we don’t like.

No one cares what you're wearing or driving.

If you don’t have your financial base in order, you have no business spending money on luxuries.

6. The Comfort Zone Is The Enemy

You will never succeed if you remain comfortable throughout your life.

Comfort is only deserved for those who take risks first.

Easy choices = hard life

Hard choices = easy life

Staying consistent with your health, finances and business is hard.

It is uncomfortable.

But if you grind through the pain barrier.

The reward is permanent freedom.

7. You Need A Mission

Without a goal to strive towards — there's no ambition.

Set yourself goals to accomplish like a video game.

As you achieve small goals, work towards bigger ones.

Apply this mentality to all areas of your life to keep you occupied and energetic with a zest for life.

8. You Will Need To Leave Bad Friends

It doesn't matter how long you've known someone.

If they hinder your growth, you have to let them go.

If they steer you towards the wrong path, you have to let them to.

If they want to destroy your progress, you have to let them go.

Understand this:
When you take on the responsibility to improve yourself — the ones who aren't willing to will hate you for improving.

Forget about them.

9. You Don't Have Time

Everyone tells you to ‘take it easy’ because ‘you are still young’.

Ask the people:

What have they done?
Why are they telling you to waste your time?
Have they accomplished anything worthy?

You do not have time.

Everything you wish to accomplish in life you must do now.

Life has an opportunity cost because the time you waste doing nothing could have been used to progress.

10. You Will Be Judged On Appearance

On how you look, how you speak and how you present yourself.

First impressions count.

Those who tell you it's all about ‘personality’ are lying to make you feel good.

Instinctively, we have more trust in people when they are in good shape, well dressed and well-groomed.

Compared to the person who is the complete opposite

Taking care of your appearance is what gets you the job you apply to, the client you want and the female you desire.

11. Your Network = Your Net worth

You've heard it a million times because it's true.

“It's not what you know, it's who you know”.

Someone less talented than you gets the opportunity because they know a guy.

This is just a random example — but the concept is still true.

When you become good at conversating with people and listening attentively, you begin to make friends.

Opportunities start falling into your lap.

Now imagine making friends with the wealthy and powerful.

12. Failure is not final

Every ‘failure’ is to be taken as a lesson for the next move.

Those who sulk in defeat never try again to succeed.

They have admitted their failure in the moment as final.

Remember:

You're not a failure.

You just failed that one time.

Don't give yourself the identity, use the lesson to succeed.

13. Investing in Yourself is Key

You're never going to be someone of substance if you don’t invest in yourself.

In fact, before any financial investment is made — you need to make a self-investment.

Invest in your skills, health, education, knowledge and anything else which increases your skillset and potential.

Then use these skills to improve the quality of your life.

14. This Is The Best Time To Be Alive

Despite the current global economy and the events surrounding it.

If we take a look at the quality of life today and the resources available to us.

We are living in the best time alive.

We don’t have to hunt and scavenge for food.

We aren't constantly at war for survival with one another.

Anything we wish to learn can be accessed for free on Google or YouTube.

It's your time to take advantage.

15. You Need Mental Strength

The world is not a fair place and life is harsh.

You will have moments, days and even weeks where you feel everything is against you.

In these times — mental strength is necessary to overcome any emotional decisions which negatively impact your life.

Want to become stronger mentally?

Do hard things.

Go to the gym, be strict with discipline and you will develop this strength.

16. Discipline Is Happiness

Permanent happiness.

Junk food, buying random things, watching TV.

These are temporary pleasures that give you a 5-minute dopamine hit.

But then make you feel terrible afterwards.

To those who realize they have potential and are wasting it — the effect is worse.

I promise you, the only thing that will give you permanent happiness and a sense of satisfaction is being disciplined with everything.

Not only will you be happy for succeeding, but you get the feeling of overcoming the competition.

That's even better.

17. You Must Know How To Protect

As a man, it is your duty to protect yourself and your family.

A weak man is a dangerous man for the wrong reason.

Learn martial arts, get in shape and perfect your body language to stand tall and confident – but don’t use this power to start unnecessary fights

Be capable of protection.

18. You Must Know How To Provide

As a man, you must also provide for yourself and your family.

Being an able-bodied male who relies on others is looked down upon.

You have the ability to earn money, build wealth and provide the necessities of life — yet you want others to do it for you?

No

You do it yourself.

19. Don't Dwell On The Past

Those who live in the past never have time for their future.

High school/college doesn't matter anymore because it's over.

What matters is now.

Similarly, you do not waste time focusing on what went wrong.

Because that is also over.

20. Your Reputation Is Everything

What takes a lifetime to build but seconds to destroy?

Your reputation.

What do other people perceive you as?

You may be known as a person who is trustworthy and reliable.

But if you make one mistake — it's over.

Guard your reputation with your life.

21. You Can’t Change Certain Things

Who your parents are.
Where you were born.

Your skin colour, height, any other permanent physical features.

We spend abnormal amounts of time worrying about factors out of our control.

Instead of focusing on improving the things we can.

22. You Can Change The Rest

Your fitness level.
Your financial status.
Your friendship group.
Your value to society.

And 10,000 other things.
You can change these.

23. Price Doesn't Equal Value

Just because something costs ₹1000s doesn't mean it's worth it.

Just because something costs ₹100 doesn't mean it's not.

The difference between rich and poor people is they think in terms of cost-benefit analysis.

“How does this decision benefit me?”

Look at the cost of what you want

(money, time, resources)

Now look at the benefit you gain

(save time, make money, gain access)

If the benefits outweigh the cost.

You made a good decision.

24. If You're Reading This Your Rich

Let's take a step back and appreciate what we have.

I'm making these assumptions:

-You have access to the Internet
-You're relatively young
-You have ambition

Congratulations — you're richer than you think.

25. It’s Not All Hard Work

Here's a harsh truth:

If it was only about hard work, those kids who travel 12 miles to get a sip of water would be the wealthiest people in the world.

They work hard.

It's not all hard work.

There are other factors involved such as location, education, IQ, environment, networks, mindset.

The combination of these factors makes you successful.

Hard work is the first step to success and there's no elevator for you to jump on.

26. Money Does Buy Happiness — Sort Of

The ones who say money doesn't buy happiness are lying.

You never see them give their money away.

Money doesn't directly buy happiness, but it does buy security snd comfort.

It provides for the basic essentials in life.

-Food
-Shelter
-Clothing
-Groceries
-Bills

If all this is taken care of — you will be happy.

27. Confidence is Everything

Aside from discipline, confidence is everything.

- How you think of yourself
-How you walk, talk and present yourself
-How you communicate with others

Are you timid, afraid and shy?

Or are you the complete opposite and bursting with energy?

The second group get everything.

The first group get scraps.

27. Don’t Compare To Others

At the start — it's fine to compare.

If you're not doing anything worthwhile

You should be looking at others with inspiration (not jealousy).

“If they can do it, I can too”. — You

But, once you have started your journey on whatever task you want to achieve (health, wealth, relationships).

You only compare yourself to yourself the previous year.

If you have improved, you go again.

If you haven't, you analyse why and go again.

Comparing to others at this stage will leave you with a false sense of achievement, or sadness.

28. Habits Determine Your Future

What you do today won't seem like much tomorrow.

But in 1 year I and you both will find out the results of our habits.

Make sure they are good ones.

I'm keeping you accountable.

29. Emotional Thinking Destroys You

Difficult situations require logic — not emotion.

The natural human state is to act emotionally.

Wrong.
Emotions lead to mistakes, mistakes lead to losses, losses lead to sadness.

Whenever you're in a situation, you need to think logically.

30. You Are Replaceable

Your job may say goodbye to you without hesitation.

You are just a cog in the system.

I've known people who have worked for their employers for decades — only to be let go.

So how do you counter this?

Build more income streams and improve your skillset.

Leave your current job for another if you get a higher offer.

Ask for pay raises and promotions.

Don’t settle and get comfortable.

31. Never Be The Smartest In The Room

Otherwise, you're in the wrong room.

The feeling of being the most accomplished and/or smartest person in the gives you a false sense of security.

You feel like you ‘made it’.

In reality — you're just getting started.

The thing about this is, it's uncomfortable to open that door to enter another room.

You don’t want the feeling of knowing there are other people behind those doors that are richer, smarter, healthier or better connected than you.

Those same people don't want to open the shiny gold door in front of them.

There's always going to be another room.

Enter as many as you can.

32. Don’t Bother Trying To Change Others

If you have read the above point, you will realize that the more valuable you become, the more rooms you enter.

This is because you have exited your comfort zone and decided to improve yourself.

Others won't bother.

Your oldest friends?

They might be comfortable with mediocrity — and that's ok for them.

Don’t try to change them, because they don’t want to.

33. Luck Can Be Created

Luck isn't just pure blind luck that falls from the sky.

There are two types of luck:

Blind Luck — You win a lottery ticket.

And the other kind of luck.

Manufactured Luck— this type of luck you create by constantly being in motion.

Always pushing forward.

Always planning the next move.

You're bound to get lucky.

34. Shut Up & Listen

Do not ignore this rule as it will take you a long way.

This is a simple thing to do, but not easy.

Everyone loves talking about themselves

Even if you don't realize it.

If you can just shut up and listen to others attentively in conversation — you will be favoured.

If someone else is skilled in something you wish to be skilled in.

If someone is teaching you.

You listen.

35. Stand Up For Yourself

Don’t be a pushover.

Have boundaries and enforce them when needed.

Do not let your time be wasted and do not waste the time of others (it’s too valuable).

Learn when and how to say ‘No’.

If you think you deserve something you ask for it.
Stand up for yourself.
