Let me stop you for a second...
Are there areas in your life that need improvement ?
Habits?
Priorities?
Health?
And do you ever feel like you're going in circles with them?
Why can’t you eat better? Exercise more? Get your savings account to the amount you want to see?
And then, in an attempt to find a solution (again)…
Do you find yourself researching these topics? Getting advice? Learning everything you can to try and tackle this thing, only to find yourself back at square one?
Friend…same here. I’ve been there.
And honestly, I thought I’d find the answer if I got more information. Or if I landed on the right motivational video. Or if I had a great pep talk with the people I trust.
But no, unfortunately, after 24 years in pursuit of strengthening my personal development- none of these work.
They do of course, contribute to the solution. But information, knowledge and dialogue can’t fix the heart of the problem.
We have this annoying little way of hindering our own growth and stopping ourselves from changing.
And we do it in little ways.
We overthink.
We compare.
We over-research.
We read too much.
We think some more.
We consume more than we create.
We say things to ourselves like “I’ll start next week, and get a fresh start”
And little by little, we sabotage on our own goals.
Our own dreams and ideas.
And we go in circles.
( ◜‿◝ )
But…here’s the cold hard truth for a lot of us.
The reason why you’re not where you could be is not because of what you don’t know.
It’s because of what you don’t do.
Let me give an example.
You know that sugar and fast food are bad for your health. Fruits and herbs are what your body needs to be strong.
You‘ve known this since….forever.
But… you don’t eat them.
You know that if you take time to prepare the night before, make a to-do-list, and set out your clothes, you will save time in the morning and jumpstart your day.
You know this.
But you just don’t do it.
You know that 98% of the time, scrolling on social media is a waste of time.
YOU KNOW THIS.
But there you go, scrolling again.
You know if you exercise, even if it’s just for 10 minutes, you’ll feel energized.
But you keep scrolling instead.
What’s my point?
My point is you're smarter than you give yourself credit for. You have the information to move and improve from where you are right now.
This little article is just here to simply whisper to you….
“Do it.”
Learning, with the end goal of improving, is good. But in the process of trying to “find a solution” or “a way” or a “new perspective” you’re not actually doing anything new. So make sure you put some wheels on all that knowledge you already have and start driving.
(◍•ᴗ•◍)
Nike has the best slogan in the world.
Three little words, but they’re the words of reason. "Just do it".
Life is full of distractions. It’s filled with a million excuses of why you shouldn’t start, why you shouldn’t finish, why you shouldn’t change. Why you shouldn’t write right now.
Things like:
I dont have enough time. I haven’t planned enough. I haven’t thought about it enough. I’m too busy. I could list 100 more. And then, you could list a hundred more.
But take a moment to ask yourself:
If you don’t do it, what will happen to you?
What will happen to your potential? To your dreams? Your ideas?
Inaction comes at a high cost.
Listen to your gut, and move forward today. On that project, on that idea, on that book, on that date with your spouse, or your best friend .
Exhaust what’s already in your hand. Apply what you know.
Go ahead. Put the phone down.
Look up and do one thing, even one small thing you’ve been putting off.
I promise you’ll sleep a little sweeter tonight.
Thanks for reading, -Vishal ♡.
